What is the cleaning method of reverse osmosis equipment?
Reverse osmosis equipment uses a membrane separation technology that uses pressure as a driving force through the function of a selective osmosis (semi-permeable) membrane. When the pressure applied in the system is greater than the osmotic pressure of the aqueous solution, water molecules continuously permeate into the membrane. After flowing into the intermediate tube through the product flow channel, impurities such as ions, organics, bacteria, viruses, etc. flow out from one end of the water, which is trapped at the inlet side of the membrane, and then flows out at the outlet end of the concentrated water, so as to achieve the purpose of separation and purification.
Cleaning method of reverse osmosis equipment:
*1. Check the cleaning tank, water hose, and cartridge filter. Clean sinks and faucets if necessary. Install a new cartridge filter.
*2. Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water. Turn on the agitator or the slop circulation pump.
*3. Slowly add scale inhibitor (3.8L scale inhibitor per 34L water penetration) into the cleaning tank and stir.
*4. Check the solution temperature. If the solution temperature is lower than the recommended value, adjust the temperature controller.
*5. Check the pH of the solution. Solution pH should be in the range of 2-3 or as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If the pH is too low, adjust the pH with NaOH or other chemicals recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If the pH is too high, adjust the pH with hydrochloric acid.
*6. Circulate and clean in the direction of water intake for about 30 minutes. The purge flow rate should be the recommended value of the membrane manufacturer or system know-how. If the manufacturer does not provide recommended values, please contact your GEBetz representative. The pressure should be low enough (below 60PSig). so that no permeate is generated during cleaning. If the contamination is severe, drain the initial return fluid to prevent the contamination from re-attaching to the membrane surface. In a multi-stage system, each stage must be cleaned separately.
*7. If the cleaning solution is cloudy or the pH and temperature are out of the recommended range, the cleaning solution should be drained and the cleaning solution should be reconfigured.
*8. Before the system is put into operation again, rinse with RO permeate until there is no cleaning agent in the system.
