After less than half a year of operation, some customers reported that the conductivity of reverse osmosis pure water equipment is getting higher and higher. Why does the conductivity of reverse osmosis equipment increase?
For RO host (reverse osmosis equipment) systems, the effluent water quality standard is generally below 10us, and the inlet water standard is generally below 300us. Sometimes the conductivity will increase after some time.
It can be divided into the following situations:
1) The conductivity suddenly rises during operation. This situation may be caused by some of the following factors:
Changes in the quality of raw water. The standard of tap water in the South China Water System is generally 110us-300us. When the conductivity suddenly rises during operation, the raw water needs to be tested. If the quality of the raw water far exceeds the conventional standard for tap water, a sudden increase in conductivity is normal. The increase in the quality of raw water may be caused by red tides in the South China water system or the use of recycled water in the tap water, resulting in major changes in the quality of the raw water. If it is a red tide, the conductivity may decrease when the tide is low. If it does not decrease, the RO membrane needs to be cleaned. If the inspection finds that there is backwater coming in, it is necessary to immediately prevent the reuse of water from entering the original water tank. There are some uncertain substances in the reused water, which may quickly cause the scaling of the RO membrane, the conductivity will increase, and the serious damage will cause the RO membrane to be damaged. ,can not fix.
When the RO membrane segment cover is damaged, the sealing ring is damaged, or the membrane junction is ruptured, the conductivity will suddenly rise. At this time, each section needs to be overhauled. After confirming the problem, replace the parts that need to be replaced.
2) The pressure gradually increases during operation, and the conductivity also increases
When the RO pressure rises to 30%, the conductivity will also increase. It may be a problem with the installation of precision filtration, which may cause leakage. The RO membrane needs to be chemically cleaned. At the same time, pay attention to the installation of the precision filter element, the filter element needs to be completely compressed. Insufficient fine sand in the sand filter will also cause the pressure to rise. The fine sand on the surface of the sand filter should be less than 0.5mm. When installing the machine, the fine sand should not be excessive, otherwise it will affect the water flow rate and water production.
3) After the RO membrane is used for three to five years, with the aging of the membrane, the filter pore size of the membrane will become larger and the conductivity will become higher and higher. At this time, the operating pressure of the membrane does not change much. However, the pure water flow rate will be higher than the normal flow rate. It can be concluded that the RO membrane has been perforated and the RO membrane needs to be replaced.
4) The life of RO membranes of different brands will be different. Hyde can have multiple models, some of which can only be used for about a year, and the conductivity will rise faster. The service life of Japanese Toray film is about two years. The best RO membrane is the Dow RO membrane, which can be used for three to five years.
5) No matter what membrane element is used, in addition to the quality of the membrane itself, the daily maintenance of the system is also very important. When replacing the filter element of the precision filter, pay attention to the compaction of the filter element when changing the filter element. The positive and negative washing every three days of pretreatment, the water softener regularly absorbs salt. All need to be carried out as required. Make a record of the operating parameters every day.
6) Regular replacement of consumables, mainly quartz sand, activated carbon, and water softening resin. Replace it once a year.
